Chamber Officers, Board Members Make Real Difference

The officers and board members of the Huron Chamber of Commerce are a tremendous force for growth throughout the Huron business community. Officers include Joy Hillman, of Cruise One, president, Doug Studer of Curves, vice president, and Dee Hartley of H&R Block, treasurer.

New board members include: Wayne Foster of Foster Funeral Home, Glen Ginesei of Wilkes & Co., Bruce Miller of Bruce Miller/State Farm Insurance. They join current members, Jeff Scheid, of Scheid Concrete; Maris Brenner, of Kalahari Waterpark Resort; Monica James Davis, of User Friendly Directories, Sam Hillman, of Centurion Ventures, Matt Cummings, of Huron Pizza House; and Dr. Angela Fraifogl, DPM, of Huron Podiatry.

Serving permanent positions on the board are: Fred Fox, superintendent of Huron City Schools; Don Ritzenthaler of the Huron Township board of trustees; Dick Wennes of Huron City Council, Andy White, Huron city manager, and John Clark of BGSU Firelands..

The 9th annual Huron Chamber of Commerce Lighthouse Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk is planned for Saturday, April 14, 2007.  An annual rite of Spring in Huron, the flat, fast course winds near the shores of Lake Erie, starting and finishing at Huron High School Memorial Stadium.

Persons entering the 5K Walk can do it at a leisurely pace that will provide some great scenery and terrific exercise.

Awards will be given to the first, second and third overall male and female winners of the Half Marathon; first overall male and female of the 5K Run, and three deep in each age group in both races.

Age groups include: 13 and under, and 14-19, (5K only) 19 and under, (Half Marathon only) 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and over.
